WHAT IS 127?
127 is a medium-format roll film not unlike 120 film, but smaller. The heydey of 127 was during the 1960s and 1970s, when many consumer cameras took the film, but some high-quality cameras from the first half of the century also took 127 film.
127 film was perhaps most famous in slide format. It was marketed as “Superslide,” which fit normal 35mm mounts but allowed for a much bigger image to be projected.
127 film can be purchased from a couple of different vendors on the Internet. We have a couple listed on our Knowledge Base page.
WHAT CAMERAS TAKE 127?
Some of the more common are the Yashica 44, the Brownie Starflex, and the Baby Rolleiflex.
WHAT WILL MY PRINTS LOOK LIKE?
Since 127 cameras capture square images, we offer 5x5 prints. You may have them cropped to show just the image or to reproduce the whole negative.
WHAT IS 828?
828 is a roll film that uses the same film stock as 35mm film. However, the film lacks sprocket holes, which means the image is significantly larger on the negative than on 35mm film. It was targeted at a consumer market, so the rolls were typically only 8 exposures. Though it is not manufactured anymore, 828 film can usually be found on the Internet.
WHAT CAMERAS TAKE 828 FILM?
The most famous is the Kodak Bantam.
WHAT TYPES OF 127 AND 828 CAN YOU PROCESS?
We can process C-41, E-6, and true black and white films. If your film says Kodacolor-X, C-22, or Triple Print we cannot process them. Any older films that contain the word “PAN” in them are generally true black and white films and we can process them.
